Trying to find the right candidate for a job can be tough. You can use the tried-and-true search methods, but sometimes attempting to connect with the perfect person can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Using LinkedIn is always a great start, as are a host of other go-to search outlets. But sometimes an alternative option is right in front of you on your computer or phone screen.

It’s easy to forget about using one of the most obvious and prevalent social media networks – Facebook. Facebook is still robust and possesses tremendous reach. In a recent episode of Dueling Sourcers, the education video series from Tech Recruit providing tips, secrets, and hacks for sourcers everywhere, Shannon (Kelly) Tratnyek talks about an obvious, but often overlooked, place to connect with like-minded candidates – Facebook Groups.

“This is not high-tech fancy sourcing, but don’t forget about Facebook Groups,” she says. “I feel like Facebook has been becoming the new LinkedIn, at least for a lot of people in my network.”
