2019 Workforce & Employment Summary Report

Love data? We are obsessed with the work it takes to put these reports together and the stories they tell. The Bureau of Labor Statistics data confirmed what LinkedIn data suggested - the labor market is picking up a little speed late in 2019. November had a robust gain in non-farm jobs of 266,000. Job gains are running about as strong as they were back in 2018. Not spectacular, but healthy. The following are highlights from the LinkedIn Workforce report.

Highlights from the December Workforce Report:

1. Hiring in the U.S. was up 7.6% y/y and up 0.7% m/m

2. Industries that showed hiring gains were Software & IT Services and Agriculture

3. Industries that showed hiring dips were Retail, Manufacturing, and Construction

4. Austin, TX; Nashville, TN; and Charlotte, NC gained the most net workers over the past year

5. An additional data deep dive looked into emergence of 57 new C-Suite jobs, revealing the fastest-growing C-suite titles and various paths to get there.

6. Migration stats! Austin, TX is the #1
