Mathew: Sourcing on Discord

Have you ever sourced for candidates on Discord? According to Erin Mathew, Senior Tech Talent Sourcer at PayPal, Discord is a new and exciting place to look for potential candidates, particularly in the Fintech, Gaming, Blockchain, and Crypto worlds.

“Discord is a still a very much untapped resource within the sourcing community,” she says. She says to check the announcements area to see if recruiters are allowed to post jobs. People  on Discord often set up profiles, enabling sourcers to find out more about their specific background and even contact information. When possible, Erin prefers to look for people’s contact info and reaches out directly to their e-mail, so she’s not contacting someone directly through Discord. She’d rather let them do what they normally do in Discord and not be distracted by other things.

Erin is a Senior Tech Talent Sourcer at PayPal and is an active contributor to the sourcing community. She has worked in talent acquisition for healthcare, e-commerce, fintech, education, and marketing industries for the past seven years.
